This site is a tribute to, Hilda Hartley who was born in Green Gate, Salford on November 02, 1933. She passed away in the early hours of 12th March 2024, aged 90. This is a place where family can reflect, share memories, write messages, post pictures and keep her legacy alive
She was a devoted wife to John Hartley who she maried in 1957
A loving dedicated mum to, Jeff, Debbie, Trish and Nicola. Also a dear nana of Danielle, Natalie, John, Jamie, Nic, Shaun and Alfie.
Great nana to Dylan, Emily, Sydney, Lucy, Ellie, London and baby Ronnie
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, then in 2012. Following 2 mastectomies. 2016 she was diagnosed with lung cancer and had half of her right lung removed. And again in 2018 the cancer had returned. She was put on a trial drug which only really gave a shelf life of 2 years, but we got to spend another 6 years with her and she got to see her 90th birthday
She had been unwell for the last 6 month and declined quickly in the last 2 weeks. She was a true fighter and such a strong person. Nothing ever got her down and she never complained.
Some of the procedures/tests she’s endured over the years have been horrendous. She was a brave lady and because of they way she carried on, our family called her ‘The Iron Lady’
We are so grateful to Dr Sheik for giving her 6 more years and to The Christie, we can’t thank them enough
we are proud of the person she was and the life she led. The glue that held us all together, and now the world seems a little darker without her in it, but we take comfort knowing she is at peace and free of any pain. And most of all she is reunited with the love of her life once again
